Douglas Hammel, M.B.A. is the principal Business Development Specialist with Douglas Hammel & Associates Inc. He was previously the Director of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) located in Olympia, Washington. His duties include one-on-one counseling/consulting with a wide variety of businesses; and presentation of Trainings, Seminars, and Workshops focused on the development of management skill.
He received his Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University in 1973 and his M.B.A. from Washington State University in 1989. He has owned and operated three businesses in the State of Washington and developed entrepreneurial efforts in food processing, arts training, and electronics. His credentials include four years of work with Washington State University as Evaluation Coordinator for their Innovation Assessment Center. He has served as a Professor of Business and Entrepreneurship at three universities, teaching various topics including: Marketing, Leadership, Organizational Development, Organizational Behavior, Strategic Management, Communications, and Statistics. He is one of only twenty-three Certified Business Development Specialists in the State of Washington.
He has developed a unique and highly effective method for turnarounds and expansions and is currently presenting his seminar Turnarounds and Expansions: Proven Strategies for Business Growth at major national conferences.
Deirdre Wilson, ED.D. is the principal behavioral health and human resources consultant with Douglas Hammel & Associates Inc. and the principal psychotherapist for Mindful Solutions in Olympia Washington. Her duties include executive coaching, and conflict resolution, along with specializations in individual, couple and family work. Dr. Wilson is a specialist in facilitating counseling and training groups, providing assessment, strategic intervention planning and treatment implementation for businesses, health care organizations, living groups, schools, and other institutions.
Dr. Deirdre Wilson received her doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Washington State University. She also holds an M.Ed. in Counseling and a M.A. in Speech. She has been in private practice since l988, is licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist and Mental Health Counselor and maintains National Certification with the National Board Certified Counselors. She has been a Professor of Psychology at Brandman University, teaching Human Communication, Psychology of Women, Psychology of Dreams, Psychology of Family, and Psychology and Sociology survey courses.
Dr. Wilson is a skilled mediator/trainer in social and communication skills, conflict resolution, and stress management and has a lively and humorous style in helping others develop self and group awareness.
